Why do you hustle? HOLD ON! Before you answer that, do think long and hard about this, because most people will say “to make more money.”
But is that the real answer?
The word hustle has become so cliché that it feels like hustle in the business sense no longer feels authentic especially when you think hustling hard equals quick money. Hustling in business really means working hard to meet your goals even in adverse conditions.
While making money is a great starting point, it shouldn’t be your primary motivator. Most people start a side hustle because we’re trying to pay down debt or create financial freedom so it’s totally okay, but the key is not to build your life/hustle around this ideal.
5 lessons I take into consideration while exploring a new opportunity.
Lesson #1
Don’t let money be your only motivator as you will have a hard time making money and sticking with your hustle in the growing and groaning years.
Lesson #2
The motivating factor for starting your hustle, should be that you are creating a solution to a problem. Think Uber.
Lesson #3
This could be a problem you’re aware of or one that you personally have. This way you solve your problem. And in order to scale, you look for others like yourself and there you have it a hustle that solves a problem.
Lesson #4
Validate your idea. Need help. Let’s Chat.
Lesson #5
Build your MVP (minimum viable product). Check out the book ‘The Lean Startup’ by Eric Reis. You don’t have to spend lots of money to start up. I coach my clients by empowering them to take their idea, build that MVP and eventually grow their hustle to as big as they want it.
Today, I invite you to join the LolaSal insider community, which is a network of side hustlers, small business owners, professional powerhouse women who are together learning how to navigate topics like managing their finance; work-life-integration, career growth, growing their hustle and personal brand.
Don’t hold off, join for free today and together we can further explore topics that don’t have easy or obvious answers (the stuff you can’t Google).
Keep saving and let’s dialogue in the chat room.
