The DOE & The Leadership Crisis in the Making
The Education System is Failing – and It’s a Leadership Disaster Waiting to Happen
I’ll admit it—I was oblivious. I figured the public school system was flawed (because when hasn’t it been?), but I didn’t realize how bad it had gotten until I took a closer look. And now? I’m shocked, frustrated, and, honestly, a little scared for the future.
This isn’t just about education; it’s about leadership. And if we don’t fix it, we’re about to pay the price in ways we aren’t prepared for.
So let me ask again: Why aren’t you mad?
The Curriculum Catastrophe – What Are We Teaching?
Education is supposed to prepare kids for the real world, to help them think critically, problem-solve, and develop leadership skills that will help them navigate life. But today’s curriculum is a train wreck of watered-down content, trendy ideologies, and a total lack of intellectual rigor.
I looked at some of the books and materials being promoted in schools today, and I cringed. This isn’t about exposure to different ideas—this is about replacing knowledge with noise.
- What happened to teaching history with context?
- What happened to literature that challenges perspectives and builds resilience?
- What happened to developing actual problem-solving skills?
Instead, we’re getting a generation being taught what to think, not how to think. And that, my friends, is a leadership crisis in the making.
The Leadership Void in the Classroom
Let’s talk about teachers. Once upon a time, teachers were the leaders of the classroom. They made the decisions. They had authority, respect, and the ability to shape young minds.
Now, that leadership has been stripped away. Instead of teachers making informed decisions, consultants, bureaucrats, and administrators—many of whom have never actually taught—are calling the shots.
🔹 Teachers are micromanaged.
🔹 Discipline is nearly nonexistent.
🔹 Parents are treated like the enemy.
And the result? A chaotic learning environment where no one is leading.
We talk about “empowering students,” but you cannot empower kids by removing the structure they need to succeed. Leadership isn’t about “letting people do whatever they want.” It’s about guiding them toward success, even when it’s uncomfortable.
And let’s be honest: If we don’t teach leadership in the classroom, how do we expect the next generation to lead when it’s their turn?
The Future Leadership Crisis – This is Bigger Than Schools
I need you to understand something: This isn’t just about today’s education system. This is about what happens next.
Because today’s students? They’re tomorrow’s leaders. They will run businesses, make policies, lead industries, and make decisions that impact all of us.
And if they are not being trained to:
✅ Think critically
✅ Handle adversity
✅ Take accountability
✅ Make informed decisions
… then what kind of leadership are we setting ourselves up for?
Weak education leads to weak leadership, which in turn leads to disasters, corruption, and societal breakdowns.
This isn’t a “future” problem—it’s already happening.
So, What Do We Do?
First, we need to stop pretending this isn’t a big deal. It is. And if you’re not mad yet, you should be.
Second, we need to demand leadership accountability at every level. That means:
✔ Holding the DOE and school boards responsible for real education reform.
✔ Empowering teachers to teach and lead in the classroom.
✔ Ensuring curriculum prepares students for leadership—not just activism or blind compliance.
✔ Teaching real-world skills that create problem-solvers, not just test-takers.
Because if we don’t, we won’t just have a broken education system—we’ll have a broken society.
