Netflix cracks down on password sharing: is it time to cancel your subscription?
This is the question many in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain are asking if it’s worth keeping their subscription in the wake of policy changes at Netflix on password sharing. These four countries joined Latin America where the trial began and changes mean that a charge of $6.50 will be added per additional user.
The password-sharing crackdown is triggered by Netflix’s attempt to turn things around as its subscriber count declines. Netflix is expecting “a bit of a cancel reaction” to this new policy according to Co-CEO Greg Peters.
Time will tell how subscribers react especially when they roll out this new policy in the United States expected later this year.
